Monday, Little Boy went to school, and I spent the rest of the morning packing for vacation. We left after lunch to go to North Alabama to stay in a little cabin for a few days. Tuesday, we went to Rock City in Georgia. I think the kids were at just the right ages to really enjoy it without thinking it was boring. We got back to the cabin and had a relaxing night exploring the land. We also had a fire and made smores. Wednesday morning we were determined to have a slower day and relax that morning. After lunch we set out for Desoto State park for a hike. We were looking for a waterfall, but I guess due to low rain levels lately the waterfall was dry. The kids did a good bit of complaining. It was right about the time that Little Boy would normally nap. And Big Boy was tired until he was given the GoPro to get some video. Big Girl was a great sport. And Scout (our new puppy) was a wonderful traveler and explorer. His nose was to the ground sniffing something out constantly. We went out for dinner Wednesday night. And boy I have to say that a lot of times you look forward to vacation food, but this trip we picked all the wrong places. We were all very disappointed in the food we got from resturaunts. Thursday, the kids did a little more exploring the property with Husband while I packed up the car. It was a good little vacation that we really needed. The trees were changing colors and were so beautiful. Thursday evening we had a team party for Big Girl's fall softball team. That was entirely chaotic. Friday, Little Boy's school had a trip to a local farm. I took him and the big kids to that. We went straight from there to Grammy's to see cousins and ended up spending the entire day there. Then Saturday, we went to an indoor playground for a birthday party for a friend. Saturday evening our AC was giving us fits, turned out that a pipe was clogged. Thankfully that was an easy fix. I did listen to an audiobook on the trip, but I didn't get much reading done. I did, however, DNF two different books.

My annual "All Things Halloween" event is going on. This is my month-long event where I feature reviews from Halloween-y genres (fantasy, paranormal, supernatural, sci-fi, horror, mystery, thriller, and suspense). Over the last few years I've had mostly fantasy books as I just haven't been in the mood for much horror, but still...these are books that can get you in the mood for Halloween.
