Ten Authors I Wish Were Still Publishing New Books

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week's topic is Top Ten Authors You Wish Were Still Writing Today

1. Katja Millay - Wrote The Sea of Tranqulity and hasn't published since.
2. Leah Garriott - Published Promised and hasn't published anything since.
3. Richelle Mead - Her last published book was in 2018. Granted, none of her later books compared to her Vampire Academy series for me, I would still like to read more by her.
4. George R R Martin - As far as I can tell, George R R Martin is still publishing, but we all know that we're waiting for Winds of Winter which will probably never come.
5. Stephenie Meyer - Your girl has been busy pursuing other paths, but I sure wouldn't mind some of those "other stories set in the Twilight world."
6. Katie McGarry - Last published in 2024, but I still want more.
7. Priscilla Glenn - Priscilla Glenn has two published books that I never knew about, but still, her last published book was in 2014.
8. Robin LaFevers - Last published in 2020 unless she's writing under a different name.
9. Tammara Webber - Last published in 2017. I want more.
10. Jane Austen - I mean who wouldn't want more Jane Austen.

When I think of Autumn, I think of yellow, orange, brown, and red. I think falling leaves, camp fires, and sunsets. There were so many yellow, orange, and red book covers that made me think "autumn" but I had to limit them because I would have gone way over 10. Here are my top ten...

Top Ten Authors Who Deserve More Recognition

Top 10 Tuesday is a post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and this week's topic is Top Ten Authors Who Deserve More Recognition.

1) Carrie Ryan - Granted I've only read her The Forest of Hands and Teeth series, but I really enjoyed the voices that she gave to her characters--specifically Gabry, in book 2, The Dead-Tossed Waves. I know there are quite a few people who have read her stuff, but not enough man. Not enough.

2) Jessica Sorensen - Everything I've had a chance to read by her has been really good. I believe she self-published a lot of her novels and so they don't get as much press as the books from the bigger publishing houses.

3) Priscilla Glenn - Seriously, I couldn't put Back to You Down. I've recommended it, but I don't know that anyone I've recommended it to has actually picked it up. PICK IT UP PEOPLE!

4) Erin McCarthy - I've only read True by her, but I enjoyed it so much more than I expected. I've only seen a couple of people review this one. But it's worth checking out for sure.

5) Jay Crownover - I enjoyed Rule, but Jet was even better for me. I finished Jet over a week ago and I still can't get it out of my head. I want more.

6) Sophie Jordan - I've only read her Firelight series, but Sophie Jordan hooked me with book 1 and her unique look at dragons. I haven't seen many people fawn over these books either. Shame.

7) Katja Millay - The Sea of Tranquility was awesome. And I've seen tons of praise for it, but I want more--maybe I'm just anxious for her next book or something.

8) Cath Crowley - This Aussie author really impressed me with Graffiti Moon. I don't know how come more people aren't all over both Cath Crowley and this book.

9) Gina Holmes - I've only read one book by her, Crossing Oceans, but it was majorly emotional. She deserves much props and for me to check out more of her work.

10) Francis Chan - I know he has tons of fans out there, but I think many more people could be inspired by him if they gave his work a chance. Start with Crazy Love.

I tried to really focus on authors that I haven't seen the love that I think they deserve. Which authors do you think deserve more recognition? Let me know!

Top 10 Beach Reads

Top 10 Tuesday is a post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and this week's topic is Top Ten Beach Reads.

I don't read many books that happen on or at the beach, so my idea of a beach read is something that I can blow through quickly. So my list is going to be reads that sucked me in and wouldn't let me go until I finished them--for the most part.

1) Nantucket Blue by Leila Howard - One of the only books I can think of at this time that happens at the beach.

2) Fallen Too Far/Never Too Far by Abbi Glines - Some beach scenes, but also quick reads.

3) Back to You by Priscilla Glenn - Couldn't put this down.

4) Dare You To by Katie McGarry - I read this one on the drive to Port Canaveral to board our cruise ship back in late March, so it has a vacation feel to it for me. Plus it's a quick read.

5) Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham - I finished this one while I was at the beach at the end of April so I have beach memories associated with this one.

6) Belonging by Karen Ann Hopkins - Quick read, didn't want to put it down.

7) The Secret of Ella & Micha/The Forever of Ella & Micha by Jessica Sorensen - Maybe a little heavy, but fast reads for me.

8) The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey - I think this would be a great beach read. I read it quickly and what better incentive to appreciate the beach than to read about an apocalypse.

9) This Girl by Colleen Hoover - Talk about quick reads and getting sucked in! Plus when I read This Girl I couldn't keep this goofy smirk off my face. As long as you don't mind giggling like a little girl on the beach then this is THE perfect beach read. Oh, but I only included This Girl because Slammed and Point of Retreat made me cry and who wants to cry on the beach. At least we know how it ends with This Girl. But if you find yourself to be easy on the waterworks then pack a tissue or two or exclude this one from your list because I STILL teared up.

10) True by Erin McCarthy - Another one that sucked me in.

I feel like I could just keep going on this list, but I'll force myself to stop here.
