Goodreads description--From the critically acclaimed author of Sunkissed comes a new swoony YA romance. Indy and Beau’s friendship is shattered, but getting accidentally locked in a bathroom together just might be what's needed to reconnect.

When the walls close in, the truth comes out.

When Indy’s life came crashing down, she made a no one could know. To the world, she’s still the same Indy—cool, calm, unshaken. But behind the scenes? It’s chaos.

Her tight-knit crew—Beau, Caroline, and Ava—were once her everything. Now they’re strangers she can’t seem to reach—especially Beau. And the only person she talks to these days is Cody, a skater-boy she used to think was so not her type. Funny how everything changes when your world flips upside down.

And then, as if things couldn’t get weirder, Indy finds herself literally stuck in a school bathroom with Beau. After months of silence, and there’s no escape. If they want out, they’ll have to face the messy truth about what happened between them and find a way back to what they once had. Or maybe even more . . .

Goodreads description--Beloved author Kasie West's sparkling adult rom-com debut about a hopeless romantic falling for the one man she never expected

Can a swipe right turn into swept away?

Margot Hart is a hopeless romantic. That’s why she wants to be a literary agent—to help bring romance books to the world. It’s also why she hates dating apps with all her romance loving soul. She wants her own love story to be just as much fun as the books she reads—a mixed up coffee order, a mistaken identity. She’s not going to tell the story that she swiped right on future husband’s shirtless pic for the rest of her life.

The problem is that her most consistent relationship over the last several years is with Oliver, a guy she keeps rematching with on the apps. They’ve only been on one date and it was a disaster…well, until the make out session in the car before parting ways. But, she keeps reminding herself, a make out session does not a relationship make. And so there will not be a date two regardless of how witty their app banter is.

When Margot gets fired from her job on the same day she meets Oliver again, her life becomes a veritable shit show. Her dream career is dying right before her eyes, and Oliver thinks she’s interested in only one a repeat of the hot make out session they had three years ago so she can get him out of her system. And maybe that is all she wants from him, because she and Oliver are definitely not compatible—he doesn’t hit the snooze button, he runs five miles every morning, he reads nonfiction, and worst of all, she didn’t meet him in cute way! But in her scramble to keep her dream career alive, by opening her own agency, Oliver is there with his golden retriever energy, more steady and helpful than any man she’s ever dated. Just when she thinks she’s overcome her app bias, she realizes that maybe it’s not her who’s holding back, but him. And his reasons are more than she bargained for.

Kasie West's romantic adult debut is full of witty banter, meet cutes gone awry and, ultimately, true love.

Kasie West is an author I've really enjoyed in the young adult genre. I can't wait to see what she does with an adult book. I know I'll love it though. What are you guys waiting on this week? Let me know!

Goodreads description--A swoony new romance from the author of Sunkissed! When her football-player boyfriend and now ex lands the podcast job she’s been dreaming of, a girl takes matters into her own hands by enlisting the help of his nemesis to get revenge.

Seventeen-year-old Finley has only ever had one to become a famous podcaster. This includes coming up with the perfect pitch to land her on her school's podcast team. But when her football-obsessed boyfriend, Jensen, decides to also try out—and uses her idea—she's left confused and betrayed.

Determined to get back at him, Finley and her friends try to find the perfect revenge scheme, but quickly discover that Jensen is almost-impossible to best. Keyword, almost.

By chance, Finley discovers a knack for kicking and decides to take Jensen's spot on the football team. To help her train, she recruits Jensen's cute but conceited nemeses, Theo. Soon the two discover that their connection runs deeper than football. But Finley can't let herself get distracted, and Theo has secrets of his own. Is true love really better than the perfect revenge?

I have been a long-time Kasie West fan. I've read 15 books by her with 3ish left unread. When you look at someone's entire catalog of work and you've read most or all of their published books, I think you can consider yourself a fan. I haven't loved every single book by Kasie West. There are a few that I didn't enjoy as much. But overall, I find her to be a consistent author with consistent content. That said, I was a little disappointed that she joined the LGBTQ bandwagon in Better than Revenge. The main characters are straight, but there's a gay secondary couple.

Basically, Finley has dreamed of becoming one of the two podcast hosts for her school's podcast. This is for two reasons. One, she loves podcasts. Two, the podcast hosts will have an internship or scholarship, I can't remember which. The only problem is that Finley's long-term boyfriend decides last minute to try out for the position, using one of Finley's ideas. An idea that he guided her away from using. And he doesn't seem to take it seriously or realize how hurt Finley is over his choice--which proves that he isn't right for her. Heartbroken, Finley breaks up with him and vows revenge.

Enter Theo. Jensen (the traitor-ex) has always had some kind of rivalry with Theo. Theo has always played first-string kicker and Jensen wants the position. Jensen always felt like he deserved the spot. And well, Finley is determined to get Theo to teach her how to kick (now that Theo is injured and out of the running for first string) to get back to Jensen for stealing her dream position. Only, Finley didn't count on liking Theo. But can she trust that Theo isn't just using her to get revenge on Jensen, also? I really liked the relationship between Finley and Theo. Theo is just a really nice guy, and he deserves an award. I also liked the message of the story. I don't want to give too much away, but is revenge ultimately satisfying? I also liked Finley's podcast with her grandma. It was so heartwarming to see her trying to preserve her grandmother's memories while she still has them. My siblings and I did something similar with my dad a few years ago (although he doesn't have Alzheimer's).

Favorite quotes:

-"That's what Jensen said...about you." "He appreciated my peak physical condition?" I shook my head. "No. He said you were full of yourself." "Who else am I going to be full of?"

-"Am I going to hurt you?" I said through my shivering lips. "You're not going to hurt me. I have you." "I don't feel had." He reached up, took me by the waist, and lifted me up and around until both my feet were on the patio next to the steps. I gasped in a cold breath of air. Oh. I was had.

-"I hope you get to it soon," he said. "I need the kiss." His smirk was back. The little punk knew exactly what he was doing.

-"Imagine," Grandma said in an ill-timed moment of clarity, "what you could've accomplished if you spent that much time and energy doing something for yourself."

-"Can mistakes be purposeful, though?"

All in all, Better than Revenge was really good. I liked the story. I liked Finley even if her motivations were misplaced. I liked her journey and the moral of the story. I liked Finley with Theo. I just plain liked Theo. I liked Grandma. But I still felt sad over Kasie West's step into woke culture. Better than Revenge gets 4 Stars. Have you read Better than Revenge? What did you think? Let me know!

It follows the ups and downs of friendship, family, and falling in love.

Goodreads description--When a girl overhears a guy getting verbally destroyed by his friends for being catfished, she jumps in to save the day--and pretends to be his online crush. A young adult romance from the critically acclaimed author of Places We've Never Been.

Wren is used to being called a control freak. She doesn't care; sticking to the list of rules she created for herself helps her navigate life. But when a cute guy named Asher walks through the door of her neighborhood coffee shop, the rulebook goes out the window.

Asher is cute, charming . . . and being catfished by his online crush. So Wren makes an uncharacteristically impulsive decision--she pretends to be the girl he's waiting for to save him from embarrassment. Suddenly she's fake-dating a boy she knows nothing about. And it's . . . amazing.

It's not long before Asher has her breaking even more of her own rules. But will he forgive her when he finds out she's not who she says she is? Wren's not so sure. . . . After all, rules exist for a reason.

Kasie West is an auto-read author for me. I've got two books of hers that I need to go back and finish, but I always know that I'll enjoy her books. That being said, I don't always love characters that live by a strict set of rules. It seems that Wren's rules are mostly assigned to her dating life, which up until now has been really minimal. Her rules have sort of gotten in the way. I liked the way Kasie West worked this though. Wren has her rules in place because of her mom. Her mom left her father, Wren, and her sister several years ago. Her mom is flighty and unpredictable at every turn. The only thing predictable about her is that she's unreliable and she will ultimately let Wren down.

One thing the description got wrong is that Asher only has one friend ragging him in the coffee shop about whether or not his online catfish will show up. Wren feels like his friend is particularly harsh so she heads out back, changes clothes (she happens to have a change on her), and re-enters through the front pretending to be Gemma. Wren is waiting for an opportunity to talk to Asher without his friend so she can explain and let him down easily, but he never seems to be without his blasted friend Dale. Thus she uses this as an excuse to carry on pretending to be Gemma.

Wren also works at a local pet shelter. Before meeting Asher she'd been interested in Chad, a coworker at the shelter. Chad hadn't shown much interest in her until Asher starts volunteering. Wren's boss assigns Wren the task of personally seeing that their longest resident dog, Bean, gets adopted. Wren and Bean have a bit of a connection, but Bean can't seem to get a similar connection with any visitor that comes in looking to adopt a pet. Wren's father is allergic so she's a no-go on adopting him herself. Bean was truly at the heart of the story. And I wanted to meet him myself to see if he'd approve of or reject me. Because Bean approves of Asher, he joins the crusade to get Bean adopted.

There was one part where all of the conflicts in the book were coming to a head at the same time and I literally teared up for Wren. I don't often tear up in Kasie West's books, or any book really. I didn't quite cry, but man I felt for her with everything hitting at the same time. Great writing.

Borrow My Heart was such a good read. Kasie West explained all the questions I had except two. What happened to the real Gemma? And did Asher ever stop talking to her? All else was addressed and done so in a way that satisfied my curiosity and didn't feel forced. I noticed that this was book 1 in a series so I'm hoping that book 2 will follow Kami and Dale. Borrow My Heart gets 4 Stars. Have you read Borrow My Heart? What did you think? Let me know!

Goodreads description--At sixteen, Hadley Moore knows exactly who she is—a swimmer who will earn a scholarship to college. Totally worth all the hard work, even if her aching shoulders don’t agree.

So when a guy dressed as Hollywood’s latest action hero, Heath Hall, crashes her swim meet, she isn’t amused. Instead, she’s determined to make sure he doesn’t bother her again. Only she’s not sure exactly who he is.

The swim meet isn’t the first event the imposter has interrupted, but a little digging turns up a surprising number of people who could be Heath Hall, including Hadley's ex-boyfriend and her best friend’s crush. She soon finds herself getting caught up in the mysterious world of the fake Heath Hall.

As Hadley gets closer to uncovering the masked boy’s identity, she also discovers some uncomfortable truths about herself—like she might resent the long shadow her late brother has cast over her family, that she isn’t as happy as she pretends to be with her life choices…and that she's falling for the last guy she ever thought she would like.

While I won't say I've ever been a fan of the lengthy titles for this series (Love, Life, and the List & Fame, Fate, and the First Kiss), I will say that I like consistency. Hearts, Heroes, and Heath Hall stuck with the alliteration pattern of the series so I was a little confused and disappointed with the title change.

Oh, I love Kasie West. I can always count on her. Always. Her books are clean. No language and no sexual scenes. But seriously for those who might argue differently, Kasie West 100% proves those things aren't necessary for a good story...for a good love story. I will devour all of her books as long as she is willing to keep writing them.

Sometimes I do find the plots for Kasie West's books not to be unique. I never tend to mind because she does each book so well by connecting me to the characters. In this case, I loved the Heath Hall aspect of the plot. I thought this was unique and maybe even something I would like to see done in real life. I had some predictions, but Kasie West kept me guessing, and I never felt fully confident in my predictions. There was one trope used where the main character is conversing with an anonymous person and she needs to figure out who she's been chatting with. But the characters bring everything to life.

Hadley, as the description says, is a swimmer. Her ex-boyfriend actually broke up with her because she was so singularly focused on swimming. But who can really blame her when she's working towards a scholarship for college. Yet Hadley learns that she's been unconsciously competing with her dead brother, who died before she was born from leukemia. She has a lot of fear of addressing her feelings with her parents. I felt like this part of the story was so moving.

Jackson is the class clown. The prankster. And Hadley seems to be the only one who isn't charmed by him. If anything she finds him childish and annoying. I loved their transition from antagonism to friends and then more. I connected with Hadley's feelings toward Jackson because I truly found guys in school who behaved in a similar way to be annoying as well. But Jackson is deeper than what he appears.

Moment of Truth was so enjoyable. I blew through it in one day which says a lot because I didn't have a babysitter that day and I still managed to squeezed every free moment into reading it. I kept guessing and I just cheese my way through the whole book. Moment of Truth gets 4 Stars. Have you read Moment of Truth? What did you think? Let me know!

Goodreads description--One year. Nine events. Nine chances to . . . fall in love?

Weddings. Funerals. Barbecues. New Year's Eve parties. Name the occasion, and Sophie Evans will be there. Well, she has to be there. Sophie works for the local florist, so she can be found at every big event in her small hometown, arranging bouquets and managing family dramas.

Enter Andrew Hart. The son of the fancy new chef in town, Andrew is suddenly required to attend all the same events as Sophie. Entitled, arrogant, preppy Andrew. Sophie just wants to get her job done and finish up her sketches so she can apply to design school. But every time she turns around, there is Andrew, getting in her way and making her life more complicated. Until one day she wonders if maybe complicated isn't so bad after all . . .

Told over the course of one year and following Sophie from event to event, this delightful novel from master of romantic comedy Kasie West shows how love can blossom in unexpected places.

Kasie West is an auto-buy author for me. I can always count on being pulled into her story and characters. I can always count on clean content and a relationship to root for. I have other authors that I consider to be auto-buy but I don't think anyone else is as consistent as Kasie West. And I love that. I love knowing that if I can get my hands on one of her books that I will enjoy it. And I have every single time. Of course, there are books that she's published that I've enjoyed more than others and some I've enjoyed less. But that's to be expected. Maybe This Time fell into the category of ones I enjoyed but didn't quite love.

Sophie is working at the local florist. She dreams of going to design school in New York after high school and getting out of her small town in Alabama. She is one of those characters that I could understand but sometimes found myself cringing with her inability to keep her mouth shut when she was upset--her biggest flaw. She also has to learn (as most of us do) that there are two sides to every story and relationship. This was true for her relationship with her mom, dad, best friend, and of course with Andrew too.

Sophie's best friend, Micah, was one of my favorite parts of this entire book. She works for her dad's catering business as a waiter. She's organized beyond the norm and my fellow planner heart just wanted to squeeze her.

Of course, I have to discuss Andrew. His dad was a chef on TV and he's since traveled around to small businesses to try to help them improve. This requires them to travel around which doesn't allow Andrew to make friends easily. He's a little arrogant, a lot defensive of his dad, and seems to quickly learn from his mistakes, unlike Sophie who takes a bit longer.

Sophie, Micah, and Andrew are thrown together repeatedly at various town events where Sophie works with the flowers and decorations, Micah works with the food, and Andrew takes pictures. Micah easily becomes friends with Andrew as she tends to see the best in people. Sophie and Andrew, however, have a hate-to-love relationship. They are really combative with each other and have a slow-building relationship. Sometimes slow builds are great, but I think the amount of time between interactions (or events the characters worked at) interfered with my enjoyment.

I wonder a little at the choice of setting for this book. Small town Alabama. I grew up in a small town in Alabama. I actually still live in a small town in Alabama. Some aspects of the town felt stereotypical in a negative way. Yet, I also couldn't necessarily say any of it was wrong and definitely none of it was out of the realm of possibility.

Maybe This Time fell in line with what I expect from Kasie West. This wasn't one of my favorites even though hate-to-love relationships are often a win for me. I think Sophie's attitude and inability to keep from verbally attacking others when she was upset forced me to keep my distance from her a little. I also think this book was a little more conceptual than Kasie West usually does. While conceptual works at times, I felt it hindered my connection to the characters and their journeys. Maybe This Time gets 3.5 Stars from me. Have you read Maybe This Time? What did you think? Let me know!

Goodreads description--At sixteen, Hannah Moore knows exactly who she is—a swimmer who will earn a scholarship to college.

The swim meet isn’t the first event the imposter has interrupted, but a little digging turns up a surprising number of people who could be Heath Hall, including Hannah’s ex-boyfriend and her best friend’s crush. She soon finds herself getting caught up in the mysterious world of the fake Heath Hall.

As Hannah gets closer to uncovering the masked boy’s identity she also discovers some uncomfortable truths about herself—like she might resent the long shadow her late brother has cast over her family, that she isn’t as happy as she pretends to be with her life choices… and that she is falling for the last guy she ever thought she would like.
