15 Day Book Blogger Challenge - Day 1

I hate finding out about these things last minute--but I guess that's better than not finding out about them at all. I'm going to plan to try to participate in April from Good Books and Good Wine's 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge. Day 1 is Book Related Confessions. So here they are...

My Book Related Confessions

  1. I read multiple books at one time. I have 7 listed on my currently reading shelf on Goodreads. I just need my options open. I usually have a couple going on my Kindle/Kindle App, plus a paperback or two, and if I'm lucky an audiobook.
  2. Reading multiple books at one time really helps me get through those monster books such as the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R R Martin.
  3. I've only ever DNF'd 2 books. I like the idea of the freedom that comes from letting them go...but it's so hard.
  4. I definitely judge every book by it's cover. And I've been suckered into several that bombed because of it. But I haven't read many that I just hated the cover.
  5. I am a snob about taking care of my books. I ALWAYS take the jacket cover off before loaning my hardback books. And I almost hate to even read a paperback book myself because you know the cover just isn't going to hold up over time.
  6. I don't hate love triangles--having lived a few myself, I actually relate to them.
  7. I'm a total nerd. Aside from having shelves on Goodreads to keep up with all of my books, I have multiple spreadsheets. My top two spreadsheets are used for keeping up with all of the books I have in my possession that are yet to be read. There's no way I could keep up with that in my head. And for books I want to do a Waiting on Wednesday post for--those sequels that the cover and description aren't released yet.
  8. I currently have over 80 books that are in my possession that I have not read yet. The closer I get to 100 the more stressed out I am. I know I'll never get that number to zero and I'll probably never read EVERY book I have, but I will try my hardest.
  9. I have a 3rd Generation Kindle, a Kindle Fire, and I use the Kindle App on my phone to read. And I get really frustrated if they don't sync for some reason--first world problems.
  10. I get frustrated with my friends when they don't read the books I want them to read in the time I think it should take for them to read them. I know--I'm a horrible friend and not everyone has as much time as I do to read or makes it the priority that I do. I just want them to experience the goodness that I've found in each book.
  11. I re-read books and have been known to re-read them several times. I know I've read the Twilight series about 7 or 8 times. And I've read the Vampire Academy series at least 6. I don't re-read as much anymore because I'm trying to read new to me books so that I can share those with my readers. Although, I have recently established two new features for the blog that include re-reads.
  12. If I really love a series, I'll own it in multiple formats. I own both paper copies and audio copies of the following series: Twilight, Vampire Academy, Harry Potter, and The Wolves of Mercy Falls. I wish I could buy more audiobooks, but they're so expensive.
  13. I'm really protective of my book babies. If someone hated a story or series that I loved, it brings the mama bear out in me. I try so hard to fight it, but I want to go on the attack and claw their eyes out. I feel I must suppress this though because everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
  14. If a love triangle (or other shape) is involved, I usually try to follow the main character's feelings and root for the character that the MC really cares the most for, but lately I've found myself fighting a few of these matches with everything I have.
  15. I've learned that lyrical/poetic writing is my favorite even though I don't read much poetry itself. Maggie Stiefvater, Carrie Ryan, Lauren Oliver, and Courtney Summers are the authors that most come to mind right now.
  16. And because I'm so rebellious...

  17. I must have all of the books in a series in the same format. If I get book 1 in audiobook, I need all of the books in the series on audiobook. If I get book 1 on my Kindle the rest of the series must be kindle editions. If I get book 1 in hardback, I need the rest of the series in hardback.

What are your book related confessions? Let me know!

  1. Hmmmm,Okay I cant really imagine reading multiple books coz I really need to devote all my attention to the one I am currently reading.
I cant ever let go of a book that I am reading even if its boring. I can sometimes let go of a series but then I google to find out the rest of the story.
I mostly judge a book by what's written on the cover, like what the story's about or by public opinion.
Even I am snob about keeping my books neat. I cant bear a torn book-page or tea-spilled ones!
Even I get frustrated when my friends dont read the books I ask them to read! Its like they dont trust my choice or opinion!
Even I re-read books that I love 10 times, must have read Harry Potter 100 times!
Someone insults Harry or Edward and I crouch into a protective stance to rip their throats out! :)
    Thats all!
And I love love stories(love triangles included!)

  2. Oh my gosh YES! Like you, I also need to have all the books in a series in the exact same format and read it in the same format, otherwise it just feels so off.

Lyrical writing is great, I love that you mention Lauren Oliver and Courtney Summers, they are two of my favorite authors.

Hahahaha, I am super defensive of my favorite books too, but more in my head, like I always wear my judgment face when people don't love books that I love. Alas, it takes all types in this world.

    Thanks for joining in!

  3. I definitely ALWAYS have multiple books going at one time, but there's usually one or two at the max that I'm really focusing on.
DNFing is one of the hardest things I've ever done.
Glad to know I'm not the only one irritated with my friends for veering off my book suggestions.
And good to know that there are other protective Edward fans out there. It's hard to imagine anyone would jump on Harry though!
    Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Yes, I can't read book 1 and then listen to book 2 on audio! No way!!!

Lauren Oliver and Courtney Summers are both new to me authors, but I'll definitely be checking out their other work. Can't wait to post my reviews for their stuff. Unfortunately it'll be like August and September before I get to because I'm scheduled that far in advance.

Yep...there are different all types of opinions out there. That's for sure...and room for them all...I guess *reluctantly nodding head*.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  7. I am a book snob too. I won't even read the hardbacks myself with the jacket on. If it has been signed by the author, you can forget about reading it. Might crease the spine. So I will own those is more than one format.

  8. I don't read them with the jackets on either. :) I only have two that are signed. 1 I read before it got signed. The other I haven't read yet, but probably will. It was used when it was given to me anyway. But I definitely understand your point there.

  10. I protect my dust jackets jealously, too. I love listening to audiobooks of books I've already read (assuming I loved the book), so I own a bunch of stuff in multiple formats, as well.

It's fun to read these and get to know a blogger better!

  11. It's almost easier to listen to the audiobook for me once I've already read the book. I don't worry about missing stuff as much. I liked reading everyone else's response to these too. It's been funny to see everyone's quirks.
