Top 10 Tuesday is a post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and this week's topic is Top Ten Words That Make Me Put Down a Book.
- 1) Bullying - You guys...I'm so sick of this topic. Sorry...but I am.
- 2) Cheating/Affair - I abhor this behavior so much. I can't condone it nor do I want to read about it.
- 3) Gay/Lesbian/Trans/Bi - I'm straight. I'm a Christian. I like to read straight love stories.
- 4) Time Travel - Yeah...I'm not a fan. Skip it.
- 5) Alternate dimensions/dual worlds - Also not a fan.
- 6) Science Nerds - I pretty much hate when people try to explain away the world and life and love using science.
- 7) Feminism - I'm not a feminist and I don't really like when women are overly feminist so yeah...fem lit gets passed by.
- 8) Manga - So I've never actually read any of these...but it's not really my style.
- 9) New Orleans - I'm not going to explain this one. Haha...die from curiosity.
- 10) Explicit/Erotica - Yeah...I have a graphic line and some of the YA and New Adult books I've read really push those lines. Explicit and erotica are big no-nos for me.
What are the ten words that immediately make you put down a book? Let me know!

Cheating and feminism made my list too! And, is it bad that I don't even consider manga a real genre? I really don't get it.
ReplyDeleteI should have added feminism to mine as well! I believe its hurting women more then helping. Maybe I can fit it under my politics umbrella
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on New Orleans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with a lot of these! Bullying... I know it's a problem, but I'm a little tired of reading about it. And cheating? Totally not cool in a book, especially when it's the MC who does it! Just hard to read about. Also, totally curious about this New Orleans thing... haha!
ReplyDeleteHehe...you should have asked me this afternoon. I would have explained then. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha...yeah, I guess I consider it a genre, but I definitely don't get it.
ReplyDeleteFeminism can definitely fit under the politics umbrella!
ReplyDeleteOh awesome! I'm so glad I'm not alone!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, bullying is definitely a problem, but I don't need to read about it in every YA book. I definitely can't respect an MC who cheats. I can't feel sympathetic towards them either. New Orleans....:)
ReplyDeleteInteresting list.
ReplyDeleteNew Orleans? Interesting... Do tell!
Thanks for sharing! :)
Haha...it's a secret! :)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with erotica. Thanks for stopping by, great list, and New Orleans?
ReplyDeleteIt's a secret! :) Thanks for dropping by!
ReplyDeleteHaha, okay! No problem. :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting list! I thought I had commented on it already, but somehow I missed it. Cheating/affairs? I've read plenty of books in which the hero or heroine's partner has done this, but if the protagonist cheats, I'm gone; it bothers me on way too many levels. I value faithfulness and loyalty.
ReplyDeleteThere was a similar topic (book deal breakers) for the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge that I participated in last week and the week before. I definitely don't take to MCs with cheating issues. Nope...can't do it!
