Sunday Post - 121 & Stacking the Shelves - 84

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ The Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~this meme was inspired in part by ~ In My Mailbox~ It's a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Man you guys, I barely even remember this week. I've been doing pretty good getting up in the mornings to do my workouts. Thursday I got up and did a quick HIIT (high intensity interval training), Thursday afternoon I did a strength training workout, and then Thursday night Husband and I rode bikes. Thursday was super productive, and I was really proud of myself for doing so much that day. Friday was fun because we were allowed to wear jeans to work or dress up in Halloween costumes. We had some fun costumes. The best one I saw was Effie Trinket from The Hunger Games. Friday night two of my nephews and a niece came to our house to trick-or-treat in our neighborhood. My sister-in-law came with them. We had a good time, but a couple of houses that usually decorate every year didn't this year for some reason. Also, I can't believe it's already November!

Goodreads description--The second installment in our epic Starbound trilogy introduces a new pair of star-crossed lovers on two sides of a bloody war.

Jubilee Chase and Flynn Cormac should never have met.

Lee is captain of the forces sent to Avon to crush the terraformed planet's rebellious colonists, but she has her own reasons for hating the insurgents.

Rebellion is in Flynn's blood. Terraforming corporations make their fortune by recruiting colonists to make the inhospitable planets livable, with the promise of a better life for their children. But they never fulfilled their promise on Avon, and decades later, Flynn is leading the rebellion.

Desperate for any advantage in a bloody and unrelentingly war, Flynn does the only thing that makes sense when he and Lee cross paths: he returns to base with her as prisoner. But as his fellow rebels prepare to execute this tough-talking girl with nerves of steel, Flynn makes another choice that will change him forever. He and Lee escape the rebel base together, caught between two sides of a senseless war.

The stunning second novel in the Starbound trilogy is an unforgettable story of love and forgiveness in a world torn apart by war.

Goodreads description--Evie is living on borrowed time. She was diagnosed with terminal cancer several months ago and told that by now she’d be dead. Evie is grateful for every extra day she gets, but she knows that soon this disease will kill her. Until, miraculously, she may have a second chance to live.

All Evie had wanted was her life back, but now that she has it, she feels like there’s no place for her in it—at least, not for the girl she is now. Her friends and her parents still see her as Cancer Girl, and her boyfriend’s constant, doting attention is suddenly nothing short of suffocating.

Then Evie meets Marcus. She knows that he’s trouble, but she can’t help falling for him. Being near him makes her feel truly, fully alive. It’s better than a drug. His kiss makes her feel invincible—but she may be at the beginning of the biggest free fall of her life.

Goodreads description--Day 1: Julia Donnelly eggs my house my first night back in Star Lake, and that’s how I know everyone still remembers everything—how I destroyed my relationship with Patrick the night everything happened with his brother, Gabe. How I wrecked their whole family. Now I’m serving out my summer like a jail sentence: Just ninety-nine days till I can leave for college, and be done.

Day 4: A nasty note on my windshield makes it clear Julia isn’t finished. I’m expecting a fight when someone taps me on the shoulder, but it’s just Gabe, home from college and actually happy to see me. “For what it’s worth, Molly Barlow,” he says, “I’m really glad you’re back.”

Day 12: Gabe got me to come to this party, and I’m actually having fun. I think he’s about to kiss me—and that’s when I see Patrick. My Patrick, who’s supposed to be clear across the country. My Patrick, who’s never going to forgive me.

That's it for my shelves and recaps of my past and upcoming week. What did you add to your shelves this week? Any bookish news you want to talk about? Let me know!

Hope those ARC's turn out to be good!! I like the cover of 99 Days. Also - your Lailah DNF title sounds interesting. Looking forward to seeing your reasons - even though it's one of those books we disagree on. ;)

I'm curious about why you DNF Lailah. I started it but had to set it aside to do some reviews and just can't seem to pick it up again. That happens sometimes. I'll get back to it though.

  4. It does sound like you had a really busy week. I managed to get only 6 trick-or-treaters this year and am looking at masses of leftover candy. I got This Shattered World a while ago and am looking forward to reading it. Happy reading!

You have definitely had a busy week. And congrats for getting all your workouts in - both HIIT and strength workouts are awesome to stay in good shape.

  7. Your workouts make me tired just reading it! I need to get back in an exercise routine but it's so hard once you've gotten out of the habit. Love the Effie costume idea! I bet that was fun to see. Have a great week!
