Basketball moved straight into baseball. The kids had practice Monday night which has us in a new normal for a while. And of course because it was Dr. Seuss/Read Across America week the kids had all kinds of dress up days for school this week. Little Girl didn't participate in most of them. She didn't mind not and my practical self has a hard time buying items for a one time dress up day at school never to be used again. Tuesday, Husband took his mom to a small procedure. Wednesday was grocery day. Thursday we spent the day at my parents' house. The kids were supposed to have practice Thursday night but rain caused cancellations. Friday night Little Girl had her first school dance. Husband took her to that. I took the boys to a local trampoline park. Saturday morning I had a women's Bible study with the ladies from church. Husband took the kids to the park, and it turned out an event was going on at the park too so they had a blast. I worked with the kids throwing, catching, and batting Saturday afternoon. I haven't done much reading this week, but mostly that's because I'm way behind on reviews. I've got to force myself to sit down and type them up.

Sunday Post - 02/26/23

We started the week off in Gulf Shores visiting my sister and her family. We came home and had just a little bit of time before the last basketball practice of the season. Tuesday, Little Boy had his 2 year old check up with the pediatrician. All is well. He's in the top 10% for height with an estimated adult height of 6 ft or 6 ft 1. Wednesday was a normal day. Thursday, I did my grocery pick up and got a zpack from the pharmacy called in from my doctor. We also went to a local playground at the church where the kids played basketball. My niece and brother-in-law that we stayed with ended up having COVID. My niece was running a fever from Saturday off and on while we were there. My brother-in-law didn't start running one until Monday. Thankfully, none of us have gotten sick. (I had my sinus infection prior to going. Although I did take a test just to verify that I was negative. I am, thankfully, feeling better.) Thursday night, Little Boy had his first baseball practice of the season. Friday was a normal day. Saturday, the kids had their last basketball game of the season.

Sunday Post - 02/19/23

Monday started off the Valentine's celebrations. Little Boy had his party at school. Tuesday, Little Girl had Valentine's activities. Her teacher assigned each kid in the class one person to show kindness to and serve in some way. I love her teacher this year. She seems much more focused on character and the kids being well mentally and emotionally than on simply learning the required subjects. Although, they do that too. Wednesday my dad had reverse rotator cuff replacement or reverse shoulder replacement. Something like that. This is his second surgery on the same shoulder. Thursday, I took the boys to my parents to visit with them. Dad is doing okay. His pain is coming quicker than his pain meds are. But I also think he was trying to stay awake to visit with us whereas he might have just rested. Friday was a pretty normal day. I visited with my neighbor a few times. Once because her kids couldn't get in touch with her (she was napping). I was scrambling Friday night to pack. After basketball games Saturday morning we drove to my sister's house in Gulf Shores to spend the weekend. We're going home tomorrow.

I barely remember this week. It's been rainy off and on all week. The temps were higher at the beginning of the week and moved down to mild towards the end of the week. I started feeling sick Wednesday evening. My mom came to hang out with us on Thursday. The kids and I always enjoy spending time with her and it definitely helps break up the week. We also visited our next door neighbor a couple of times this week. Saturday was basketball games and the kids went over to Grammy's after that. I actually took a nap with the time they were away. It would feel like a waste of my time to do that normally, but with being sick I think I needed it. Happy Valentine's Day this week guys!

It's no wonder that my posts over the last week were all off schedule and sporadic. We hosted Baby Boy's 2nd birthday party on the 28th. So I spent the entire week cleaning and preparing as much as possible. This past week was good. Only Little Girl had basketball practice Monday night because Little Boy's coach was sick. Tuesday was my mom's birthday. It was rainy and cold here. Thursday, we went to my parents' house to hang out. Saturday was a bit busy. I took Little Girl to a softball camp that lasted from 9-12. Then ran to Little Boy's basketball game. Came home to take the boys to Grammy's house. Ran to the grocery store to get a few things I needed for Sunday. Went back up to the school to see the end of the softball camp. Took Little Girl to Grammy's house. Came home and had lunch. Then I painted the ceiling in the entry closet. That had been on my list to do for months. I did a load of laundry, filed a bunch of papers while pulling out old papers from the filing cabinet. I feel very productive.

Sunday Post - 01/22/23

Little Boy and Baby Boy have been battling runny noses and coughs. Baby Boy has been waking at least once during the night 5 out of the last 7 nights. While he goes back to sleep fairly easily, the disrupted sleep has started to wear on me. Monday the kids were out of school, and we just had a nice day home and playing outside. Monday night was really rough as far as sleep goes for Baby Boy and thus Husband and I. So Tuesday we were very lazy. It was needed, but I don't like having days like that regularly because I need to be productive. I had errands to run Wednesday. I dropped off a prescription at the pharmacy and went ahead and did my grocery pick up instead of my normal Saturday. Thursday we went to my parent's house to spend the day. My mom was also babysitting my great-niece. She's just turned one in December, so she was super fun for the boys to play with. Friday, Little Boy had a playdate with a friend after school. We went to a Burger King nearby that has a playplace and then to the park. The boys had so much fun. Saturday was Baby Boy's 2nd birthday. I cannot believe he's two already. He'll always be my baby, but he's growing up too fast already. The big kids had basketball games. The church where they play basketball has a playground so we let them play for a little while after their games. We impromptu decided to get pizza for lunch. Baby Boy had a great birthday.

Sunday Post - 01/15/23

Monday was a super busy day. I took the kids to school. Came home and went for a walk. Then I went to get Little Boy from school, took the boys to Chick-fil-a for lunch, and then took them both to get haircuts. I got back home just in time to put Baby Boy down for a nap and turn around and go get Little Girl. I'm so thankful Husband works from home now. Tuesday was fairly normal. We took my car to the shop to get an alignment. We had to leave it for pretty much the whole day. After school, Husband's mom and sister came by to visit since his sister was in town from Georgia. Wednesday was basically my only normal day of the week. Thursday, it was super windy in the morning so I just let the boys play outside instead of going for a walk. I raked leaves trying to prepare for tons of wind expected with bad weather later that day. I kept waiting for the school to release the kids early due to severe weather, but they never did. By the time I was about determined to go get Little Girl myself, the weather was upon us. It got here about an hour earlier than predicted. And central Alabama had tornadoes all across the state. Our direct area wasn't affected, but within our school district a little north of us got hit as well as Selma, Alabama. Selma got hit really bad. My neice's husband is a firefighter in Selma. Friday was a pretty normal day also now that I think about it. The kids had their second basketball games Saturday morning.

Sunday Post - 01/08/23

Monday was nice because Husband was off work. It was the first full day that the kids had to play on their new playground. Monday night the big kids had basketball practice. Tuesday is Husband's normal off day. It was nice to have so much family time after the holidays. Usually he's in full work mode through this season because so many other people take off during that time. Grammy came by to see the kids play on the playground and they invited themselves over to her house for lunch. Husband grabbed them around 2 pm because weather was starting to get bad here. There was a tornado a few miles north of our house, really close to the high school here, but only a few houses were damaged and no injuries. That night we continued to have bad weather from about 2:30 am to about 4 am. There was another tornado that hit about 30 minutes away. Wednesday was back to school for the kids and they both had really good days with high behavior marks. Little Girl invited a friend of hers that lives in our neighborhood over after school to play. Thursday was a ton of running around for me. I took Little Girl to school, then went to my parent's house. Then I ran to the dentist and back to my parent's house for lunch. I left Baby Boy with them to run Little Boy to a pediatric cardiologist. Turns out he has an innocent heart murmur. His cardiologist said it's nothing to worry about. His EKG and ultrasound were both normal. It was a relief but also emotional for me. God is good! Even if the news had been different, God would still be good, but it's a weight off not to have to worry about that. Little Girl invited another friend to come play after school on Thursday. Friday was again a normal day as far as the kids were concerned. I did have to run by the bank, pharmacy, UPS store for an Amazon return, and I grabbed some Chick-fil-a breakfast while out and about. Saturday, the kids had their first basketball games. My parents came to watch which was so nice because my mom pretty much entertained Baby Boy and Husband and I were actually able to watch the kids play instead of wrangling Baby Boy.

Monday, we did Christmas with Husband's side of the family. We even went over to his mom's house again on Tuesday to make sure we saw everyone before they went back to Georgia. Santa brought the kids a playground, but he didn't have the elves put it together for them so Husband and I have spent every afternoon working on it. We only have about an hour to an hour and a half from the time he gets off work until Baby Boy wakes up from nap. Like the rest of the country, we had record low temperatures for December until Thursday we were back up to the 60s and then 70s. I took the kids to my parents' house on Thursday to spend the weekend. The kids were actually anxious for me to leave so they could start their weekend. Husband and I went on the first date we've been on in months. We would have worked on the playground more on Friday, but it rained here. I did get my Christmas decorations down. I usually like to leave them up through the New Year, but it just made sense to take them down while the kids were away. We were also catching up on The Walking Dead this weekend as we were like 20+ episodes behind. I didn't get any reading done this weekend, but that's okay because I actually spent quite a lot of time working on upcoming blog posts and trying to get myself scheduled and prepped in advance like I used to do. Happy New Year to everyone. I hope every one of you has a great start to 2023!

Sunday Post - 12/25/22

The first full week of the kids being out of school for Christmas break. The first part of the week was rainy so we were stuck inside. Then the end of the week was freezing temperatures like most of the rest of the country. We didn't get any snow but we did have some ice. Monday night the big kids had their first basketball practice. Little Boy talked so much he missed a few drills and the coach had to keep getting onto him. Little Girl said she was the worst on her team and was embarassed, but I told Husband that just means she has a much better chance of getting most immproved by the end of the season. Monday, we did our gingerbread houses. The kids begged for them since we purchased them at the beginning of the month. Little Girl's icing packet was busted and she couldn't get much out of it, and Little Boy mostly wanted to eat the candy inside his kit. Tuesday we played with some fake snow that the kids' aunt got them on clearance back in October. I decided to save it for this week. Wednesday we made cookies for Santa. This is something I always helped my mom and even my aunt with back when I was little. We also went to a Christmas party for our church family hosted at my parent's house. Thursday, we spent the day at my parent's house. We each colored a picture. Friday, Little Girl had a playdate with another girl from church. And Husband only had to work half a day. We've been super lazy because of the rain and cold weather. Saturday we just had a family day at home. A part of me wanted to call up family and see if anyone wanted to come hang out, but we've already had a lot going on and still more to come. A lowkey day was just what we needed. We played, we watched movies. And of course, today, we're so excited to be able to celebrate Jesus's birth with our church family. We are opening presents early and then heading to church. Husband's mom and maybe my parents will come over for lunch and to see what the kids got for Christmas. I wish you all a very merry Christmas!

This time of the year is just jammed packed. This week the kids had a lot of activities at school. Reindeer Day, Grinch Day, Elf Day, Christmas Parties, Pajama Day. I was running this way and that way to make sure everyone had what they needed. Thursday, Little Boy had his 5 year old check-up and we spent the day with my mom and dad. We kept Little Girl home from school on Friday. It was only a half day and she didn't sleep well the night before. I spent a lot of the week cleaning and prepping for this weekend. Saturday, we went to my great-niece's 1st birthday party at 2 and then went to my parents for my side of the family's Christmas. My sister, brother-in-law, and niece spent the night with us Saturday night. The kids were in high heaven to have their cousin spend the night even though we didn't have a ton of play time for them before they had to head home. Today we're having a family dinner. And this coming week will be a little slower but still very busy.

Sunday Post - 12/4/22

Back to school after Thanksgiving Break isn't always smooth. Monday, I went by the storage building to get our wrapping paper for Christmas presents. I've spent most of my normal reading time wrapping presents. I really don't remember much about this week. I THINK Tuesday was rainy. One day we had tornado warnings at 3 am. Thankfully Husband heard the siren and woke me up. Our weather radio is still in storage so I missed the alarm on my phone. The tornado went south of us so we were safe. There's a good bit of clean up needed for not too far away. There were only 2 fatalities which is kind of amazing for it being so early in the morning. But our prayers go out to the family of those two. Thursday, Little Girl had a field trip and this was the first one I've been able to go to. Last year parents weren't allowed on the first field trip and Little Boy had the flu when they went to the zoo last year. We all had a really good time and my mom came to stay with the boys while we were gone. Friday, I had a haircut, and Friday night we popped popcorn and watched The Polar Express. Baby Boy was enthralled. Saturday we went to see Santa, went out for lunch, and took the kids shopping for each other. It's been a busy week, and it won't slow down until after the new year probably.

Sunday Post - 11/27/22

Monday I took the boys to the doctor. Little Boy had 103 temperature when we got there. Baby Boy was 101.5. They both tested negative for the flu which is what I thought they had. Little Boy was clear for his throat and ears, but Baby Boy's throat was so red the doctor decided to run a strep test. That was also negative. His ears had some fluid in them, but the fluid wasn't infected yet. The doctor gave us a prescription to keep his ears from getting infected. But we spent the next few days with fever, coughs, and runny noses. Thankfully, everyone was well enough to visit family for Thanksgiving Day. We went to Georgia to Husband's sister's. It was a wonderful day full of good food and good company. Friday morning I did some online shopping. Husband had to work a few hours, and then we went to Troy. My cousins had a big reunion meal. They own a farm and so the kids got to feed the goats and chickens. We went on a hayride which was better than any pumpkin patch we've been to. It was so good to see family members that we just don't get to see often. Many of these family members I grew up with and were close to until everyone grew up and got married. Saturday, we started decorating for Christmas. There's still more to do, but it's a start.

Sunday Post - 11/20/22

A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

This was a more normal week. Tempatures have dropped here below freezing a few days, but thankfully it warms to the mid-to-upper 50s by midday. Tuesday it rained all day. And that was frustrating to not be able to get outside like we normally do, but Husband got my curtains hung in the bedroom. And I hung a few picture frames on the walls. Things are really starting to come together. I finished painting the last interior door casing. I'm not quite done with all painting, but we're really down to the piddly stuff now. Thursday, Little Boy had a terrible day with behavior. I kept my calm all day, but man was it challenging. He was so disrespectful and throwing fits any time I told him something he slightly didn't like. Baby Boy had an ear check with the doctor. Ears were all clear, but the doctor said he did hear some congestion. I told him that I'd noticed him coughing and worried he might be getting sick again. If he ends up with another ear infection, he's going to refer us to an ENT for tubes. Friday was a much better day for Little Boy, but we still had a couple of moments of bad behavior. After dropping the big kids off at school I ran to the grocery store. Usually I do grocery pick up but I wanted to be able to pick my own substitutions if necessary since Thanksgiving is this coming week. Saturday, Baby Boy woke up with a fever and a runny nose. So here we go again. I had to take Little Girl to basketball evaluations and by the time we got back Little Boy was also running a fever. The boys slept most of the afternoon, and Husband stayed home with them while Little Girl and I went to a going away party for some friends of ours from Korea. They're moving back to Korea on the 29th. Happy Thanksgiving week to all of our US friends.
