Sunday Post - 131 & Stacking the Shelves - 92

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ The Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~this meme was inspired in part by ~ In My Mailbox~ It's a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

This was a long week. I guess because it was the first full week at work in a while. I've been doing a lot of work on an upcoming wedding shower that I'm co-hosting that will take place next weekend. Friday night we went to Cracker Barrel to celebrate my brother-in-law's birthday. You haven't lived until you've eaten a buttery Cracker Barrel biscuit! I just love those things. Saturday was spent doing much needed housecleaning.

Goodreads description--Sometimes, there are no words…

The youngest of six talented sisters, Elyse d’Abreau was destined for stardom—until a boating accident took everything from her. Now, the most beautiful singer in Tobago can’t sing. She can’t even speak.

Seeking quiet solitude, Elyse accepts a friend’s invitation to Atargatis Cove. Named for the mythical first mermaid, the Oregon seaside town is everything Elyse’s home in the Caribbean isn’t: An ocean too cold for swimming, parties too tame for singing, and people too polite to pry—except for one.

Christian Kane is a notorious playboy—insolent, arrogant, and completely charming. He’s also the only person in Atargatis Cove who doesn’t treat Elyse like a glass statue. He challenges her to express herself, and he admires the way she treats his younger brother Sebastian, who believes Elyse is the legendary mermaid come to life.

When Christian needs a first mate for the Cove’s high-stakes Pirate Regatta, Elyse reluctantly stows her fear of the sea and climbs aboard. The ocean isn’t the only thing making waves, though—swept up in Christian’s seductive tide and entranced by the Cove’s charms, Elyse begins to wonder if a life of solitude isn’t what she needs. But changing course again means facing her past. It means finding her inner voice. And scariest of all, it means opening her heart to a boy who’s best known for breaking them . . .

  4. Good luck with organizing that wedding shower, sounds like a lot of work! But hopefully a lot of fun as well.
The Summer of Chasing Mermaids sounds interesting and the cover is so cute! Just added it to my to-read list!

  5. We don't have any Cracker Barrels around here, but I've heard so many good things about it. I love TWD!

  6. The cracker Barrel's reputation has crossed the seas to France, but unfortunately, the biscuit hasn't yet ! My boyfriend recently offered me the "Walking dead making of" in book, some people wanted for a time to sell merchandise from the series including... perfume ! I don't want to think what it would have smelled like lol ! Have a great week ;)

  7. First you are reading Red Rising..Squee. I love Cracker Barrel and yes to Never, Never. Have a great week!!

  8. Enjoy your new books. I think I need to break down and get at least one graphic novel just to check out the medium. I do most of my reading on a Kindle eInk reader, and the graphic novel just *wouldn't* work well there.

  9. Ugh ... hosting a wedding shower ... good luck! Just make sure there's plenty of wine. lol. Enjoy your books. Never Never is really good, but MAJOR cliffhanger.

  10. ooohh.. the Walking Dead!! I've never watched the TV series (just because I'm not the TV kid) but I've kind of been thinking about this graphic novel.. I've also been seeing Never Never a lot lately... although I'm not a NA reader, I'm kind of thinking about trying it :)

Hope you'll enjoy your new books. Happy reading! :)

  11. I see Never Never on a lot of blogs, not sure about it though. I'm working through the Walking Dead Compendium 1, but not sure if I'll finish it. I love the show, and the comics are good, but I am not a huge fan of comics, I don't always like pictures with my books, I kinda like to imagine it in my head I think. Great haul though!

  12. Sounds like you've got a busy week ahead! I now want a Cracker Barrel biscuit. Those things are so yummy! We used to eat there some and then my husband randomly decided he didn't like anymore and we haven't eaten there in ages. Not cool! Enjoy your new books and have a great week!

  15. You'll have to ask the hubs since it's his book, but I don't see him being opposed to you borrowing it. :)

  16. I'll definitely do a review on it, but closer to release date. Thanks for stopping by Rachael!

  17. Thanks Kristin. I'm hoping it'll be really good. It's my first Sarah Ockler book. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  18. Thanks Lola! It has been a bit hectic. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm ready for it to be over at the same time. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  19. Oh! That's a crime! I love Cracker Barrel. It's a great representation of southern cooking. Thanks for stopping by and commenting Yvonne!

  20. Oh no! I definitely hope you get to try one of their biscuits at some point in your life. I'm with you though, I don't think I want walking dead perfume. That doesn't sound appealing at all. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  21. I'm only about 10% into Red Rising. I put it on hold for a second to read a review book. I have a feeling something big is about to happen though. I don't think I've met anyone who doesn't love Cracker Barrel. Also, I wrote my review for Never Never today but it probably won't post until next week. Thanks for stopping by Kimba!

  22. An hour away is a good trip, but I'd say that Cracker Barrel is worth it. :) Thanks...This is my third bridal shower in about a year (for three different brides). It's going to be fun, but I'm ready for it to be over with at the same time. Just because there's so much. The bride really deserves it though. She's probably the nicest person I've ever met. Very laidback. But you're right, if you get someone who wants everything done their way then it is just too much! My review of Never Never should go up next week! Thanks for stopping by and commenting Michelle!

  23. I've read one graphic novel before and didn't completely love it. But I think it was the story more than the medium. I love The Walking Dead (the TV show) so I'm hoping to love the graphic novel. I love my eInk too. I don't think that graphic novel would translate to that medium, but I will say that the one I read before took no time and it was well over 500 pages. So maybe it would be something you could do periodically. Thanks for stopping by Elsi!

  24. I think the shower is going to be fun, but I'm ready for it to be over at the same time. The bride is awesome though so I'm looking forward to doing something special for her. I finished Never Never on Saturday. I definitely need book 2 ASAP. I'll probably post my review next week. Thanks for stopping by Christy!

  25. We LOVE the TV show, but I can see it not being everyone's cup of tea. Perhaps the graphic novel would work for you though. Never Never just released (early) this past week so I'm sure that's why it was all over the place this week. It didn't have much of the NA qualities that I normally associate with the genre--granted, I haven't read the 2nd book (Part 2). I'm planning to post my review next week. Thanks for stopping by and commenting Czai!

  26. Never Never released this past week (early) so it has been all over the place. I plan to post my review of it next week. I love to find a fellow TWD fan. Sorry you're not loving the graphic novel though. I haven't read many graphic novels so it's not typically my favorite, but one every now and then should be fine. Thanks for stopping by and commenting Lisa!

  27. Haha! Sorry...I didn't mean to create a Cracker Barrel craving, but I just had to share the love. Oh no! How can he not like to eat there anymore? Maybe he needs to give it another shot? :) Thanks for stopping by and commenting Katherine!

  28. Thanks Laura! I'm ready for February too! And I love finding another Cracker Barrel fan! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  29. Ugh, I was already hungry and now I'm DYING for some biscuits! I wonder if I having the makings... :)

Ooh, The Summer of Chasing Mermaids! I'm still waiting and hoping to see if I get accepted for that. It sounds so good! And I'm very curious to see what you think of Never Never.

I hope you're having a great week, Sandy!

  31. Haha! Whoops! (Dude sorry for not replying for so long!)

I think you already got approved for The Summer of Chasing Mermaids since, right? My review of Never Never went up last week. I rated it, but yet I feel like I can't really say until I know how the story ends.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting Rachel!

  32. Never Never...well...I was hooked. And I was enjoying it. And then it just ended. I didn't love the cliffhanger as much as a lot of people have, but I was definitely enjoying it. I'll be able to tell more once I get the rest of the story. I do love Colleen Hoover though. Thanks for stopping by and commenting Sofia.

  33. I love the Cracker Barrel! It's about an hour away from us so if we go we like to make it a nice family trip when we go but it's so fun. Good Luck with the Wedding Shower I co-hosted one and I wasn't a fan lol the girl I was doing it with wanted EVERYTHING her way and it drove me nuts.

Enjoy your new reads Never, never looks really good! Have a great week, Sandy!
