Sunday Post & Stacking the Shelves - 08/18/19

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ The Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~this meme was inspired in part by ~ In My Mailbox~ It's a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Little Girl started getting sick last Sunday. Early Monday morning she was running a low grade fever and had to miss school. She was almost completely better by Tuesday and was able to go back to school on Wednesday. Unfortunately she did pass her cold onto Little Boy, and he's had a little harder time shaking it than she did. I truly don't remember anything out of the norm happened other than that during the week. Friday we had a guy come to evaluate a dead tree in our yard and give us an estimate on cutting it down before it falls on our house or something. Friday night Husband surprised me with the idea of a date night. We asked my parents to keep the kids for a couple of hours, but Mom suggested they spend the night because my Nanny would be coming to visit on Saturday. So we let them do that. We went out to dinner (which I rarely get to do these days), stopped by Hobby Lobby for all of 10 minutes before they closed--literally turning the lights off on us. And then we did the exciting adventure of grocery shopping. This is the date night life of parents. Because Husband had Lasik just over a week and a half ago, he couldn't mow the grass at our house Saturday. But I felt like it was high time I learned how to do it. I put on an audiobook and then threw some noise canceling headphones over those and got to work. It was filthy, but I'm proud of myself for getting out of my comfort zone. I jumped in the pool to wash the dirt and grass off of me and then came in to get a shower. After lunch I went to my mom's to get the kids.

Goodreads description--It’s been years since seventeen-year-old Becca Hart believed in true love. But when her former best friend teases her for not having a boyfriend, Becca impulsively pretends she’s been secretly seeing someone.

Brett Wells has it all. Being captain of the football team and one of the most popular guys in school, he should have no problem finding someone to date, but he’s always been more focused on his future than who to bring to prom. When he overhears Becca’s lie, Brett decides to step in and be her mystery guy. It’s the perfect solution: he gets people off his back for not dating and she can keep up the ruse.

Acting like the perfect couple isn’t easy though, especially when you barely know the other person. But with Becca still picking up the pieces from when her world was blown apart years ago and Brett just barely holding his together now, they begin to realize they have more in common than they ever could have imagined. When the line between real and pretend begins to blur, they are forced to answer the question: is this fake romance the realest thing in either of their lives?

That's it for my shelves and recaps of my past and upcoming week. What did you add to your shelves this week? Any bookish news you want to talk about? Let me know!

  2. My kids have fallen like dominoes with a cold, hubby too. So far I’ve escaped but I had a flu shot this winter and I think that’s made the difference. I joe you are all well soon.

  4. Yes this is the life of adults / parents. I hadn't mowed a lawn in years but I bought a house last month. I had to figure out how to put together the mower and use it. It went fine. Now I need to do the same with the trimmer. I got electric ones with plug in batteries and I like them. Have a lovely week and hopefully a healthy one with some time for good books!
