Sunday Post - 29 & Stacking the Shelves - 2

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ The Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~this meme was inspired in part by ~ In My Mailbox~ It's a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

It's been a good week. We went to my parents' house Friday night. This past Father's Day my siblings and I bought my dad a video camera so that we could record all of his childhood stories. He used to tell us these stories before bed as kids, and he's a really great storyteller. Some of these stories I feel like I'm hearing for the first time even though I know I've heard them before. It was a really great night. If your parents have stories like these, I highly suggest capturing them.

THIS PAST WEEK:

Monday: Review of Onyx (Lux, # 2) by Jennifer L Armentrout (4 Stars)

Tuesday: Top 10(ish) Fictional Crushes

Wednesday: Waiting on Scarlet

Thursday: Review of Opal (Lux, # 3) by Jennifer L Armentrout (4 Stars)

UPCOMING THIS WEEK:

Goodreads description--SHHHH!

Don't spread the word!

Three-day weekend. Party at White Rock House on Henry Island.

You do NOT want to miss it.

It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives—an exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie each have their reasons for being there (which involve T.J., the school’s most eligible bachelor) and look forward to three glorious days of boys, booze and fun-filled luxury.

But what they expect is definitely not what they get, and what starts out as fun turns dark and twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine.

Suddenly people are dying, and with a storm raging, the teens are cut off from the outside world. No electricity, no phones, no internet, and a ferry that isn’t scheduled to return for two days. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on each other, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

That's it for my shelf and recaps of my past and upcoming week. What new books did you add to your selves this week? Any bookish news you want to talk about? Let me know!

  1. Look forward to hearing what you thought of Ten. I see you joined a giveaway hop for February too. Oddly enough, I only got one book this week as well. It was sort of on the pricey side for my extremely cheap book budget.

Thanks for the book recommendation of Firelight. I added it to my TBR list.

  3. Ten sounds really good. I have been thinking about adding it to my TBR mountain for a while but have resisted temptation so far.

I do wish I would have asked more questions about my family's history when I had the chance. Both of my parents are gone now and it is too late.

You can check out my new books posts at Ms. Martin Teaches Media and Inside of a Dog. Happy reading!

  14. That's such a good idea capturing your dad's stories! :-) My gran used to tell such amazing stories about her childhood. One day I realised I needed to write them all down, and I'm so glad I did. Things like that are really special.

Ten looks really good! Happy reading! :-D
