Sunday Post - 126 & Stacking the Shelves - 88

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ The Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~this meme was inspired in part by ~ In My Mailbox~ It's a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

This was an eventful week. Last Sunday morning I woke up with a sore throat. By Monday I was coughing a good bit. Went to the doctor on Wednesday and was diagnosed with bronchitis. I'm feeling much better now, but I still have a pesky cough at times. I've been spending most of the week tidying up the house. Friday I was off work to clean the entire day. Saturday, I had about 10 ladies and a few kids over to the house for a Pinterest party. If you guys are interested in me doing a post about that, let me know. I was running around like a crazy person, so I didn't really get any pictures. I'm hoping some of the other ladies snagged a few. Of course after you have a party at your house, you have to re-clean afterwards. So I spent most of Saturday afternoon doing that. It was a lot of fun though. Also, this week, I did my first kind of discussion post in a new periodic feature I'm calling Discussions Only We Know. I'd love for you to stop by and check it out, I need some input.

Goodreads description--With shades of The Hunger Games, Ender’s Game, and Game of Thrones, debut author Pierce Brown’s genre-defying epic Red Rising hit the ground running and wasted no time becoming a sensation. Golden Son continues the stunning saga of Darrow, a rebel forged by tragedy, battling to lead his oppressed people to freedom from the overlords of a brutal elitist future built on lies. Now fully embedded among the Gold ruling class, Darrow continues his work to bring down Society from within. A life-or-death tale of vengeance with an unforgettable hero at its heart, Golden Son guarantees Pierce Brown’s continuing status as one of fiction’s most exciting new voices.

Goodreads description--Can true love strike twice?

After the death of her first love, Melanie Michaels buries her grief in the risky demands of a reality show, where her extreme stunts leave her teetering on the edge danger. That’s exactly where she wants to be—until she arranges for her crew to traverse the Swedish Lapland in the dead of winter. It’s the one place she shouldn’t go, on the one day she should avoid—her would-be wedding anniversary.

Instead of romantic nights spent in the Ice Hotel or under the Northern Lights, Melanie is stuck with Joe “Buck” Wright, a snarky loner tour guide who loves his sled dogs and nothing and no one else. But Buck is also trying to numb a painful past. Can two people skilled at pushing others away find warmth at the edge of the Arctic?

Goodreads description--From the New York Times bestselling author of If I Stay

Allyson Healey's life is exactly like her suitcase—packed, planned, ordered. Then on the last day of her three-week post-graduation European tour, she meets Willem. A free-spirited, roving actor, Willem is everything she’s not, and when he invites her to abandon her plans and come to Paris with him, Allyson says yes. This uncharacteristic decision leads to a day of risk and romance, liberation and intimacy: 24 hours that will transform Allyson’s life.

A book about love, heartbreak, travel, identity, and the “accidents” of fate, Just One Day shows us how sometimes in order to get found, you first have to get lost. . . and how often the people we are seeking are much closer than we know.

The first in a sweepingly romantic duet of novels. Willem’s story—Just One Year—is coming soon!

That's it for my shelves and recaps of my past and upcoming week. What did you add to your shelves this week? Any bookish news you want to talk about? Let me know!

  6. I hope your bronchitis goes away soon. I was a bit snotty earlier this week, it really is the seaosn for catchign cold's and such.

I would love a post about the Pinterest party, i can remember when you previosuly mentioned it, it sounds like so much fun!

I prefer to have parties at someone else's house, because the cleanign afterwards can be annoying. Although on the other hand staying home is nice as well, so I guess both options have their good sides.

I am curius about your discussion posts, will stop by your discussion post next to check it out. I love doing my weekly discussions posts they are fun to write and see the responses from readers.

  10. Sounds like you've had a busy week! I hate bronchitis but I think that lingering cough is even worse! Hope it goes away soon. A Pinterest party sounds like a lot of fun. I think one of my New Year's Resolutions is to actually do some of the pins that I pin! I'm good about the recipes but not so much everything else. Have a great week!

  11. Thanks Lola! I'm feeling much better now, and I hope you are too. I totally forgot about doing a post on the Pinterest party. I'll see if I can't get something typed up about it. I might wait and post it next week because I don't have much planned since it's Christmas week. I like having parties at my house, but I try to spread them out so I don't have them too often. The cleaning is pretty stressful. Thanks for stopping by the discussion posts. I'm going to those next to reply to comments (I'm a bit behind). Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  16. It has been busy since the beginning of November really, but I'm truly not complaining. I love this time of year. YES...I still have a slight cough even though I feel completely fine now. Hoping that goes away completely soon. I forgot to do a post about the party. I'm thinking I might try to squeeze a post in next week about it. I think that's a fun New Year's Resolution! 18. I'm sorry you are ill and hope you feel better soon. A lot of stuff going around right now. I'm fighting something and hope it doesn't get worse.
I've seen Golden Sun around lately. Curious about it.
Don't know if I'll be going to any parties this holiday season. Haven't got many invites yet. It will be quiet at my house, which is something new and I think I'll enjoy it.
