Goodreads description--Ella and Micha have been best friends since they were kids. But one tragic night shatters their friendship and their lives forever.

Ella used to be a rule-breaker with fiery attitude who wore her heart on her sleeve. But she left everything behind when she went to college and transformed into someone that follows the rules, keeps everything together, and hides all her problems. But now it's summer break and she has nowhere else to go but home.

Ella fears everything she worked so hard to bury might resurface, especially with Micha living right next door. If Micha tries to tempt the old her back, she knows that it will be hard to resist.

Micha is sexy, smart, confident, and can get under Ella’s skin like no one else can. He knows everything about her, including her darkest secrets. And he’s determined to bring his best friend, and the girl he loves back, no matter what it takes.

(New Adult Contemporary)*Mature Content** Recommended for ages 17+ due to sexual situations and language.

First of all, I love this book cover. The bright red contrasting with the soft grey tones is just beautiful.

The Secret of Ella and Micha ended up being so much more than I expected it to be. I felt like the characters were really flushed out. Each character had a back story, particularly Ella, that added to and enriched the book. Even the secondary characters Lila and Ethan had enough background to make them believable characters with real problems. Ella struggles to control the uncontrollable and I really related to that because I've been that way in my own life. I haven't had the horrible childhood and experiences that Ella has, but I've definitely had my issues with trying to control many things that are beyond my power to control.

Ella and Micha's relationship had everything that a good love story needs. They have history. They had a friendship first. They both have some mega tension going on between them. Micha's on the chase, and Ella's refusing to be caught. While it was sometimes frustrating to have Ella constantly run away from her feelings and from Micha, it fit into the world that Jessica Sorensen created and kept me reading--I finished The Secret of Ella and Micha in less than 24 hours. Though fairly predictable, I still found myself glued to this book, and wanted to kick and scream anytime I had to put it down.

Even though The Secret of Ella and Micha won't go down in the history books as a psychological masterpiece, it definitely carries it's own weight in showing how to overcome adversity and a past that is haunting. It addresses how to cope with the uncontrollable messes in this world--how to move on. The Secret of Ella and Micha was much deeper than I expected it to be.

All around, The Secret of Ella and Micha exceeded my expectations in almost every aspect, and for that, I'm giving it 4.5 Stars. Have you read The Secret of Ella and Micha? If so, what did you think? Let me know!
