Top Ten Popular Authors I've Never Read

Top 10 Tuesday is a post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and this week's topic is Top Ten Popular Authors I've Never Read.

Ok more like Top 20. We all know I have trouble counting. Or more like trouble stopping at ten.

    1) Kelley Armstrong
    2) Jojo Moyes
    3) Jennifer E Smith
    4) JD Robb/Nora Roberts
    5) David Levithan
    6) Jennifer Estep
    7) Rhiannon Frater
    8) Susan Ee
    9) Pittacus Lore
    10) Ally Condie
    11) Libba Bray
    12) Holly Black
    13) Kendare Blake
    14) Beth Revis
    15) Marie Lu
    16) Lois Lowry
    17) Rick Riordan

I could seriously keep going. There are just too many authors out there with great books. One day maybe I'll get to them all--but probably not. Are there any of these authors that I must read now? Which popular authors have you yet to read? Let me know!

  1. I've enjoyed the Anna duet by K. Blake (though I wouldn't put those books among my absolute faves, and Girl of Nightmares didn't blow my socks off). I was wondering how you put your list together (genuinely curious!), if you can explain that without getting in trouble with the authors themselves or their fans!
I am determined not to read anything by E.L. James and Stephenie Meyer... *ducks and hides*

The Lorien Legacies (Pittacus Lore) are great for an easy read. You REALLY should read The Giver by Lois Lowry, it was one of my first introductions to the dystopia genre. Here's my TTT!

  3. Kelley Armstrong is one of my favourite authors (and I don't use that term lightly), I would certainly recommend her books. I still have two books in her Nadia Stafford series to read and I can't wait to get through some review books, so I finally have some time for non-review books and continue that series (I still wonder what made me wait so long to pick it up).
Jennifer Estep is another one who makes my favourite author list, I love her elemental assassin series, her mythos academy series is really good as well. And I recently picked up her other series when it was on sale.
I have read Matched and Crossed by Alie Condie, but while I really enjoyed Matched, Crossed was a bit of a disapointment and I heard the third book isn't much better. So I never picked that one up.

Concerning the rest of your list, those authors are authors I never read a book from either. Legend and Every Day are on my to-read list though.

  4. Anna Dressed in Blood has been on my TBR list for a couple of years it seems like. But I just picked authors I either have on my TBR list or authors I don't ever plan on reading that seem to be popular. I'll never read EL James either, though Stephenie Meyer...yeah, I'm a fan. :) Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  5. Jojo Moyes is on my TBR list. I think you were actually the first person I saw to recommend Me Before You. But David Levithan I'm not sure I'll ever read. :( We all have our reading quirks. I do love Harry Potter, but I won't try to force him on you. :) Thanks for stopping by!

  6. I've got intentions to read The Lorien Legacies and really almost anything by Lois Lowry, but I just have to make room for them or actually get my hands on any of them first. Thanks so much for stopping by!

  7. Kelley Armstrong, Jennifer Estep and Ally Condie are all on my TBR list. I actually own A Touch of Frost, but I just haven't gotten around to it. And I know my SNL has Matched. I hate to hear that the 2nd two books in that series aren't as good as the first. That's always a disappointment. I'll try to bump Kelley Armstrong and Jennifer Estep to closer to the top of my TBR list. Thanks for stopping by!

You know, I'm about half and half on your list. I've read half, haven't read half. I want to read JoJo and Libba Bray for sure!

I would recommend Jennifer E. Smith if you ever need a fun romancey read with a little family depth! Her stories are just super cute. And if you ever did want to get a feel for David Levithan's writing without compromising your quirks, I'd recommend The Lover's Dictionary. It is beautiful and universal and anonymous.

    Have a good week! ;-)

  9. I think you should read The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight RIGHT NOW! I loved that book and I know it's going to be on my top 14 of 2014 list!
You should also start the Across the Universe series right this second, the same goes for this one. It is seriously spectacular.

I've read David Levithan (loved Dash & Lily's Book of Dares), Jennifer E. Smith, Ally Condie (didn't like Matched), Kendare Blake (I really enjoyed the Anna duology, but didn't like Antigoddess), Beth Revis, Marie Lu (the legend series is okay) and Rick Riordan (I liked the Olympians series)

Great list and thanks for stopping by :)

  12. Oh yes Jennifer E Smith is on my TBR list for quite some time. I hope to get around to reading her stuff at some point. It's more about getting my hands on her books. Thanks for the recommendation and for stopping by to comment!

  13. Haha...thanks! I'll have to see if my library has TSPoLaFS. I've had it on my TBR list since it first came out, but I just never got my hands on a copy. Across the Universe too. I'm glad to know that I can expect good things from both of these. Thanks so much for stopping by, for commenting, and for the recommendations!

  14. I can definitely recommend getting into Jojo Moyes and David Levithan - although Every Day is one of his most well known books, Two Boys Kissing and some of his earlier books (such as Boy Meets Boy) are so good - and super short as an added bonus ;)

I've never read JK Rowling...and at the risk of being shunned by every reader ever, I have no desire to either!
