Sunday Post - 90 & Stacking the Shelves - 57

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ The Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~this meme was inspired in part by ~ In My Mailbox~ It's a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

I may or may not have gone to see Divergent again yesterday with Holly.Yep. It's just that good. The rest of the week was pretty low key. I won't say I'm in a reading slump, but I'm having trouble deciding what to pick up next. Anyone want to check out my TBR in my possession shelf and give me some suggestions??? I'd appreciate it. My brother is also working on his second book and so I started proofreading his first draft earlier this week.

Goodreads description--I feel like I am wrapped in a cyclone. Everything is whirling around me, drawing the air out of my lungs and filling me with the best kind of turmoil. Every time his tongue slides against mine, a prickle in my gut tells me how right we are together. How much I need David. How much I need us.

I hope the cyclone never stops.

Emma Searfoss has spent a lifetime trying to escape her abusive stepfather. It's why she moved far away from home. It's why she's kept no ties with her remaining family. And it's why she's got a major rage problem. When her neighbor shows up to fix the kitchen in her new apartment, his enigmatic charm calms the fire in her. David is cool and collected, and he makes Emma feel safe for the first time ever. But David has his own chilling past—his six previous girlfriends have all disappeared without a trace. Goodreads description--Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate... until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

Goodreads description--Evangeline has spent her teenage years in obscurity. Her foster parents have the emotional aptitude of robots and her classmates barely acknowledge her existence. About to turn eighteen and feeling like a social pariah, she is desperate to connect with someone. Anyone.

When Evangeline meets Sophie after literally stumbling upon her cafĂ©, she believes she’s found that connection. Willing to do anything to keep it, she accepts a job as Sofie’s assistant and drops everything to fly to Manhattan, where she is thrust into a luxurious world of Prada, diamonds, and limitless cash.

With such generosity and kindness, it’s easy for Evangeline to dismiss certain oddities... like Sofie’s erratic and sometimes violent behavior, and the monstrous guard dogs. She’s even willing to dismiss her vivid dreams of mob-style murders, beautiful homeless people living in caves, and white-eyed demons that haunt her each night as figments of her imagination—especially when one of those figments is the gorgeous Caden. When she wakes up with bite marks on her neck, the fairy tale quickly turns into a nightmare. She slowly unravels the mystery surrounding Sofie and friends, and the reality of the bites and the “dreams.” What she discovers is far more mysterious and terrible than anything she could have imagined.

In a world where everyone has motive to lie for personal gain, Evangeline must decide which deception is least likely to get her killed.

That's it for my shelves and recaps of my past and upcoming week. What did you add to your shelves this week? Any bookish news you want to talk about? Let me know!

  3. I've read Matched but haven't had a chance to read the rest. They are on my TBR mountain. I haven't had a chance to wonder what to read next. I have review books filling my calendar through June. I'm just reading them in the order I put them on my calendar. Any and all non-review books I get are just adding to my TBR mountain. Thanks for visiting my blog. Happy reading!

  4. Isn't it great to knock some books off the TBR Pile? I'm doing a challenge for the year, and I've done 12/36 so far. Every bit helps, right?

    Enjoy your reading...and here's

  5. I choose Above, Jane's Melody or The Kiss of Deception as books I'd like you to choose next :) They are 3 that I have been curious about and don't see many reviews on. Great post as always. Thanks for visiting me.

  6. I sometimes have those weeks as well, I want to read, but can't decide what. I would recommend Open Minds, I saw it was on your tbr in possession list. Or Brightest Kind of Darkness. I think those are about the only ones I've read from your list and I really enjoyed both of them.

  15. I found book #3 of Millennium to be not as good as the beginning : too many characters, parallel plots. I'd like to know what you think of it. Enjoy your week !

  16. Thanks Alison! The month is essentially over so it's back to ARCs mostly. Thanks for stopping by!

  17. I don't know when I'll get to the others in the series either. I've put Crossed on hold with the library so maybe it won't be too long. It definitely sounds like you've got quite a lot of ARCs to get caught up on. Thanks for stopping by!

  22. I like it that you have a writer in the family, all the best to your brother. In my family, no-one really understands my reading obsession :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yes. I actually have a couple of writers in the family, but my brother is the only one who has pushed "publish." It definitely helps to have family and friends who understand my obsession, but that's what the blogging community is so good for. Thanks so much for stopping by!
