Top 10 "Older" Books I Don't Want People to Forget About

Top 10 Tuesday is a post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and this week's topic is Top Ten "Older" Books I Don't Want People to Forget About.

Feeling too lazy to post pictures on this one. Sorry.

1) Harry Potter by JK Rowling - DUH!!!!!

2) Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen - Classic! Possibly my favorite love story of all time.

3) The Lord of the Rings by J R R Tolkien - Another classic with some awesome (and religious) symbolism.

4) Bondaries by Dr. Henry Cloud & Dr. John Townsend - Read it! Push through...it'll change your life.

5) Power of a Praying Woman by Stormie Omartian - Changed my prayer life.

6) Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead - One of my favorite series and hope it never gets forgotten.

7) Anything by Lurlene McDaniel - These books created my love of relationships in books.

8) Anything by Lois Duncan - These were the ones that sparked my interests in the paranormal in books.

9) Twilight by Stephenie Meyer - Because I feel like too many people have turned their backs on this series despite the fact that when they first read it they might have loved it. Twilight will always hold a special place in my heart.

10) I haven't read near as many classics as I want, and I feel like if I had then I'd be listing them here...Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Emma, etc...Maybe I should just put Persuasion on here because I do love that one by Jane Austen.

What are your top 10 books you don't want people to forget about? Let me know!

  1. I'm with you on reading more classics. I have a halfway read copy of Emma that has been on my book stack for a year.

As soon as I published my list, I thought I should have added The Lord Of The Rings.

  2. I need to read more classics as well, it always seems like something I want to do and then (of course) the newest hottest title sweeps in and consumes me :P Little Women was my favorite by far though!

  4. You have a good point about Twilight. I actually really did love the books when I first read them. I haven't thought much about them lately though. Perhaps a reread is in order.

  5. Love the Lord of the Rings, it definitely belongs on this list. I also need to read more classics, I have never read a Jane Austen book.

Thanks for stopping by Reading It All!

  6. I'm not much into vampire books, but I do think I'd like to read the Vampire Academy books one day. They sound good. And I'd definitely like to read some more classics -- I've got Great Expectations, Emma, and Sense & Sensibility ready to go! And Frankenstein. Too. Many. Books.

  7. If you love Jane Austen, I strongly recommend Elizabeth Gaskell. Her "North and South" is magnificent.

  9. I just got sucked into the Vampire Diaries tv show over the summer - Team Damon! Lol. I should read the books! I also want to read Lois Duncan, I am not sure how I missed her when I was younger!

    Have a great week!

  10. For some reason, I have avoided the "Classics." I really don't know why. But, i should give them another shot. If you love them, I would really suggest reading "The Eyre Affair." Fun twist on them!

  11. Oh my gosh, I loved the Lurlene McDaniel books when I was younger. The Amish ones were my favorite. Also, you can't go wrong with Lois Duncan!
